Assessment Summary Report
Beginning of Year Data (October 2023)
During our first HMH module assessment, I observed that six of my students were performing approximately two levels below grade level. I designated these students as a targeted small group and worked with them three times a week, focusing on phonics, building foundational literacy skills, and enhancing their understanding of academic vocabulary.
For students who were performing at or above grade level, I provided small group instruction once a week to review and reinforce skills taught during class. These students were also placed in learning centers that furthered their understanding of the module, promoted reading engagement, and allowed for creative exploration of the material they had learned.
End of Year Data (May 2024)
The data shows that the majority of students demonstrated growth, with 10 students improving by 10-50%, and 4 students experiencing significant growth between 50-100%. However, 3 students saw a decline or stagnation in their progress. Students with lower initial scores, such as Beckham and Effie, made the most substantial gains, while high-performing students showed moderate growth. This suggests that targeted interventions were effective, particularly for students performing below grade level.
End of Year Reflection
For next year, I plan to focus on providing more differentiated instruction for high-performing students to challenge them further, while offering additional support to those who experienced stagnation or decline. I will also look to implement more personalized feedback, adjust pacing, and enhance engagement in learning centers to help maximize growth for all students.
Assessment Summary Graph
Overall Improvement: Most students show a noticeable improvement from BOY to EOY, with their EOY scores consistently higher than their BOY scores. This indicates positive academic growth over the year.
Significant Growth:
Students like Beckham and Christian showed the most remarkable progress, with low BOY scores that improved significantly by the EOY.
Oscar, Alston, and Ethan also demonstrated substantial growth from their BOY scores.
Consistent High Performers:
Some students, such as Brooklyn, Evan, Ellie, Alex, and Lucy, scored well at the beginning of the year and maintained or slightly improved their performance by the EOY.
Students such as Effie and Anthony showed less improvement compared to their peers. Their progress is relatively modest, suggesting they may need additional support.
This data highlights student progress over the year, with most showing growth, particularly those who began the year at a lower level.
