My name is Ying Chen and my students know me as Ms. Chen. I currently live in Lower East Side, Manhattan and love learning about the diverse communities in New York City. On my spare time, I am often crafting at home, or trying a new restaurant in the neighborhood. I can't wait to share my love of education and learning with my students and the rest of the community. I have so much to learn and so excited to get to know everyone!

My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and have something special that they can contribute to every classroom environment. My mission as an educator is to promote cultural appreciation in the school community through various texts and conversations.
I will enter each classroom with the highest expectations for all students allowing them to maximize their potential. Using strategies such as monthly goals, morning meetings and daily check-ins, I can help my students set expectations for themselves and take steps to achieve their goals. This allows me to maintain a warm and welcoming environment for each child as they walk into school each day.
